Handwoven Dhurrie are an ancient Indian craft with several Cultural Tradition, each with it’s specific design, We combine contemporary design with old techniques, natural material and small scaled sustainable methods of production.
Traditionally, techniques were handed down within families from generation to generation.
The charm of flat weave dhurries lies in simple stripe structure,symmetrical placement of motifs and geometrical forms. Cotton dhurrie woven in the weft faced plain weave tapestry technique. The flat weave dhurrie is sturdy due to the compactness of the weft.
The materials used are cotton, wool and a mix of these yarn or a variety of other plant fibers such as jute and grass. Dhurries are flat woven and hence often reversible.
